rini's notes day 2
The highlights of the second day of the trip are Che Guevara and the deadly fog along the road Starting at 8 in the morning we went around Vallegrande. We visited the Che mausoleoum and the Che museum in the main plaza.
Then we continued to La Higuera (+/- 2400 masl). We kept driving higher and higher passing narrow muddy roads under the rain and thick fog with deadly cliff in one side of the road.

On the way we experienced :
+ Papamovil2 (PM2) slipped and damaged the left side of the front bumper.
+ The second flat tire incident with Papamovil1 (PM1).
We stopped in Pucara where we managed to make the local people gathering around our problematic tire, watching one guy doing the impossible meanwhile we were having our home-made sandwhich lunch in the main plaza. We left Pucara and continued to La Higuera. It's a small village where Che Guevara was executed in 1967. The school where the execution took place is now a museum displaying the history and photos of Che.
The next stop was the bridge over Rio Grande where the boys with their animal instinct marked their existence by peeing into the river. They were all proudly peeing standing up with a great wish that the river would flow their urine all over Bolivia, well at least to three provinces, Santa Cruz, Chuquisaca and Potosi. Boys will be boys.
The road condition got a little better afterward and no fog. We enjoyed the scenery and passed some small villages; Nuevo Mundo, Villa Serano, Tomina and then we stopped in Zudáñez to repair the PM1's tire. We walked around the town to give our legs a bit of excercise.
We skipped to visit Tarabuco and went directly to Sucre (2790 masl).
Our original estimate was 2.5 hours to get to Sucre but the fog became so thick that the visibility was less than 2 meters, we had cliff in one side of the road and we were not in a good condition after 14 hour driving, dead tired. The one who was driving hardly stayed awake and the rest hardly opened their eyes. Fucking fightening! We were progressing at only 10-20 kmh speed. It felt like a never-ending road.
When the fog was finally fading away, we saw the city lights flashing. Fuuih! We arrived in Sucre around midnight. We were so glad that we chose Hotel Real Academia, a four star hotel. We so needed that nice bed and bath. Zzzzzzz.. like never before.
